KAWASAKI RENDOKAN ATHLETES AND COACHES SHINE AT HOME AND ON THE WORLD STAGE
A Record-Breaking Season for Kawasaki Rendokan Judo
We're proud to share that the CJCC's own Kawasaki Rendokan Judo Academy is off to an outstanding start to the competitive year, with medals and honours from Ontario all the way to Sarajevo.
WORLD AND PAN AMERICAN MEDALLISTS
Valentina Millan Rincon and Zoey McIntosh made history in September 2026 by winning the club's first-ever World Bronze Medal in Ju No Kata at the IJF World Kata Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina. Earlier this year, the pair also won Silver at the 2026 Pan American Championships in Ecuador. They are the Canadian Champions for both 2025 and 2026.
REPRESENTING CANADA
Sensei Dan Bird represented Canada at the World Kata Championships, competing in Kodokan Goshin Jitsu and Itsutsu No Kata.
Sensei Mitchell Kawasaki and Sensei Gosia Lampman were selected by Judo Canada to serve as IJF-certified Kata Judges at both the World Kata Championships in Sarajevo and the Pan American Championships. Both Senseis are IJF-certified in all seven Kodokan Kata, which is a rare distinction and a reflection of the expertise our members train under every week.
ONTARIO OPEN JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS
Closer to home, Kawasaki Rendokan finished 6th out of 123 teams at the Ontario Open Judo Championships, winning 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 9 Bronze medals in shiai (competition). More than 1,200 competitors took part, from across Canada and the USA as well as Japan, Ukraine and Georgia. Congratulations to Alejandro and Julien Edwards and to every athlete who stepped onto the mat.
These results were built right here in our own dojo, through the dedication of our athletes, the guidance of our coaches, and the support of our CJCC community.
Please share and help us congratulate our judoka!
